‘Litterae Apostolicae’ is a rare 17^th-century collection of Jesuit letters. Collected and published by Johann van Meurs, this book contains an important early printing of the Jesuit Constitutions. Originally written by Jesuit founder Ignatius of Loyola, these constitutions set out the traditions of Catholicism pertinent to the Society of Jesus. In it, Loyola declared Jesuits would abandon many of the extreme traditions while still establishing new practices.
