In the 16th– and 17th-centuries, English Bibles printed by Barker were extremely popular and have maintained their value and desirability into the 21st-century. Christopher and Robert Barker were well known for their printings of King James and Geneva Bibles as well as editions of the Book of Common Prayer. However, dozens of editions and variations on those editions were printed throughout the early 17th-century.

This example is also known as the Breeches Bible, a variation of the Geneva Bible in which the English in Genesis 3:7 uses the word ‘breeches’ which was continued to be used through the King James 1611 English. Even after the 1611 King James English Bible was published, the Geneva Bible would still be the edition of choice of the Puritans into the mid-17th-century.

This particular example was published in 1608 by Robert Barker and includes the Genesis 3 error as well as the John 6 error. See below. It also includes numerous, impressive engravings – illustrations of Bible scenes and Holy Land maps!
