Prior to the popularity and successes of ‘The Decameron’ in 1351, Boccaccio wrote what is considered to be his first great work – ‘The Filocolo’. This work, which was known to inspire portions of Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales’, was based on the Medieval story of ‘Floris and Blancheflour’.
