Image Gallery Description & Details

The Despatches and Correspondence of the Marquess Wellesley by Richard Wellesley is an 1838 printing of official letters written during Wellesley’s time in India. However, this collection of letters and correspondence covers his interactions with the Spanish embassy and the Supreme Junta in Spain in 1809. These letters include Wellesley’s plan to provide troops with provisions, a plan for the British troops to take a stand at Guadiana, and an English translation of the Proclamation made by the Supreme Junta.

This copy is beautifully bound in modern, ribbed leather with ornate marbled boards.
