A rare collection of 15th-century manuscript leaves of Gregorian Chant. Written sometime in the 1400s to early 1500s, these vellum leaves feature black and red inks, chant notation, and legible Latin text. These folio-sized leaves were intended for group reading within a choir or monastic setting are bound, and are bound in curiously heavy wooden boards with brass fittings.
The tome retains 16 vellum leaves with the core passages still visible (though, crude cutouts interrupt section of text). The text includes well-known scriptural texts including those from Psalms and Lamentations reflecting the penitent voice of medieval monastics.
