Image Gallery Description & Details

Practicarum Observationvm… libri dvo by Andreas Gaill was the first collected survey of the legal decisions made by the Reichskammergericht (the Holy Roman Empire’s supreme court). First published in 1578, this book quickly became, and still remains, one of the premier studies of Holy Roman Empire law and is especially notable for assisting in contract law negotiations and disputes.

This 1668 includes both the Practicarum Observationvm and the companion texts De Pace Publica and De Proscriptis sive Bannitis Imperij, reflecting on procedural justice and imperial sanction.
