The 1852 Uncle Tom’s Cabin Routledge edition is among the earliest British printings of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel. Published in London by George Routledge and Co., this edition was issued the same year as the first American release.

This Routledge issue includes all text and illustrations called for in this edition. This particular example was owned by British Baron Broughton, Sir John Hobhouse, a known personal friend of Lord Byron.

Condition:

Very Good. Bound in contemporary leather. The spine features gilt titling and simple ruled compartments. Leather shows rubbing of surface near the hinges. Corners are lightly worn. Internally, the pages are complete. Foxing and toning appear throughout. All eight plates are present, with some edge wear and browning. Text block remains stable and intact.
