The Vision; or Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise by Dante Alighieri, translated into English by Henry Francis Cary, was issued by Frederick Warne and Co. around 1881 as part of the publisher’s Albion Edition series. The work presents all three parts of Dante’s epic: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. Cary’s translation became one of the most read English versions of the Divine Comedy during the 19th century. This particular volume is bound with a brown morocco leather spine and board corners, paired with light brown cloth-covered boards.

Condition:

Near Fine. Spine leather is strong and unfaded. Corners are intact with minor rubbing. Slight creasing of hinges at the headband on front and back boards. The cloth panels show very light handling and maintain their original tone. The binding remains tight and secure. Pages are clean throughout and fully intact, with mild browning around the edges throughout. Gilt top edge remains bright.
