1910 SIGNED Arthur Rackham ART | Wagner Ring of Niblung 2v 1st edition Set
“Joy is not in things; it is in us”
― Richard Wagner
Richard Wagner’s “Der Ring des Nibelungen” (or “The Ring of the Niblung, WWV 86) was a landmark work in the history of music. It was a collection of four large-scale operas that created a ‘cycle’ of works which would in-turn be called the “Ring Cycle”. The story loosely follows characters of Norse mythology and was a major influence in J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
This fine printing was illustrated by the famous Arthur Rackham. and contains all four movements of the work – “The Rhinegold” and “The Valkyrie”, and “Siegfried” and “The Twilight of the Gods.”
The color illustrations are classic Rackham style and feature trolls, beasts, magic spells, and more in a very dark and sinister fantasy style.
This particular example is notable for being signed and numbered by Rackham – an incredibly rare and valuable printing!
Item number: #28402
Price: $3500
