John Hacket was a 17^th-century Anglican bishop who is best known for his biography of Archbishop John Williams. Williams was the personal advisor to King James I and supported Puritan movements much in part to his disdain for William Laud. Hacket’s biography, ‘Scrinia Reserata’, is unquestionably the best and most reliable biography of John Williams.

This 1693 first edition is exceedingly rare and valuable. It has long been considered a valuable source on the reign of King James I and his feuds with William Laud.
