Image Gallery Description & Details

Jules Verne’s adventure novels are some of the most popular and famous works of literature of all time. Known mostly for his works of science fiction, ‘Voyages Extraordinaire’ was Verne’s largest collection of fantasy novels and stories. Adventures of Captain Hatteras is a two-part novel, that was included into The Extraordinary Voyages. First published in 1864, this book tells the tales of Captain John Hatteras in the North Pole. Many critics speculate that Captain Hatteras is a fictional reworking famous explorer John Franklin.

This 1875 printing of The English at the North Pole is an English translation of Adventures of Captain Hatteras.
