Portraits of Saints & Martyrs – Landry – c.1700 | Crucifixions & Torture Scenes
Engraved devotional portraits of saints by Pierre Landry, printed in Paris around 1700. Bound in vellum, the volume includes 96 full-page images, many of martyrdom scenes.
A collection of nearly 100 separate, full-page engraved plates attributed to Pierre Landry. This vellum-bound tome features views of iconic saints and martyrs from the early church in various states of their ministries: prayer and supplication, performing miracles, and even martyrdom and death. The image of Saint Peter is particularly interesting as it depicts a sword through his head!
