R.W. Dickson’s Practical Agriculture is a rare, early 19th-century modern farming manual. While the title suggests the work is ‘modern husbandry’, this work focuses solely on the make-up of all aspects of farming and agriculture. For instance, this book offers direction on use of hoes and plows, building and maintaining granaries and farm houses, preparing planting soil, farm road construction, gathering and using manures, and tactics for cultivating the plants.
