In 1712, John Baskett began printing the Book of Common Prayer, shortly after the success of the 1710 New Testament. Baskett was the printer to the king during the first half of the 18^th-century. This 1760 folio edition contains the Psalms of David and other notable liturgical texts such as the Apostle’s Creed.

    • Nicholas Holland was vicar of Mucking and rector of Stifford, Essex in the mid-18th century.
    • Zachariah Button belonged to the prominent Button family and commissioned Belmont Castle near Grays, Essex, around 1795; the structure remained until 1943.
