Joseph Spence was an 18^th-century English historian known for his anecdotal essays and translations. One of his most important works was “Polymetis” – a collection of full-page engravings of ancient Greek and Roman art paired with dialogues over the works of art themselves.   • Jupiter, Medusa, Minerva, Cupid, Hercules, Apollo, Mercury,
• the rise and fall of Roman art
• the influence of Greco-Roman style on ‘modern’ artists
