Niccolo Machiavelli is one of the most important figures in 15th- and early 16^th-century Renaissance philosophy. His works helped define what has become political science. His most famous work “The Prince” has infamously coined the term ‘Machiavellianism’ regarding politics and dishonest politicians.

“The Art of War,” Machiavelli’s 1521 treatise on military science, was the only theoretical or historical work to be published during his lifetime. This book of ‘high military’ concepts discusses military discipline, civilian interactions, how to live without factions, how to define war, and how to conduct diplomacy during a time of war.

This 1697 edition was published as part of the works of Machiavelli, published in Amsterdam by Desbordes.
