This volume is paired with “Amabel and Amoris,” which tells of a similar love story of love triumphing over hardship. Both stories utilize traditional themes of satire and are illustrated.

 

This 1902 edition printed by John Murray is illustrated with four full-page engravings in the Art Nouveau style by Clemence Houseman after drawings by his friend Paul Woodroffe.

 

This work is beautifully bound in embossed leather and is the early work of the esteemed binders, Sangorski & Sutcliffe! The 1902 publishing date of this title would suggest it was very likely bound in their first attic facility in Bloomsbury, London, England, a true treasure!
