An interesting woodblock-print guidebook ‘Bandai Ozassyo Kokon Taisei’. “Bandai Ōzassyo Kokon Taisei” was first issued in the Tenpo Period (1837-1858) …… It is a guidebook describing the particulars of daily life at the time. It ranges widely over many themes, from traditional customs and astrology, to the points to note in naming children. This edition was reprinted during the Meiji period which opened japan’s borders to allow in more foreign trade, thus needing an update for the particulars of daily life.

This large 1893 edition is written in a column handwritten format bound in the “fukurotoji (variously translated as “bound-pocket,” or “pouch” binding)” style (Keio)! This 1893 edition is profusely illustrated with hundreds of illustrations throughout!
