John Alfred Langford was an English journalist, historian, and poet. In this work, written with C. S. Mackintosh and J. C. Tildesley, Langford gives a compiled history of two counties in England, with detailed explanation of the geology, notable towns and antiquities. Langford also discusses eminent figures from the counties most famously William Shakespeare from Warwickshire.

This undated 19^th century edition includes numerous illustrations from original drawings by H. Warren, K.L., and others. Warren was an artist, architectural draughtsman, and illustrator. He is perhaps best known for his work in the field of book binding, this set being a charming example of his work.
