While in exile, in 1554, the first examples of this book were published in Latin focusing on the religious persecution of Lollards in England during the 1400s. However, the rest of his book was written in response to more persecution occurring throughout England.

This edition includes stunning full-page art depicting torture, assassinations and deaths of famous martyrs by George Housman Thomas and Sir J. Gilbert.
