John D. Lee, a prominent figurehead in the Mormon Church, was a participant in the Mountain Meadows Massacre and the only person tried for this atrocity. Lee was found guilty and put to death by firing squad at Mountain Meadows in 1877. This first edition has 26 engravings throughout, some in color! Engravings included portraits of John D Lee and Joseph Smith, as well as scenes of the Mountain Meadow Massacre.

 

This first edition is illustrated throughout and features a frontispiece portrait of John Doyle Lee.
