John Bisset’s “Sport and War” is a rare 19^th-century memoir recounting hunting experiences in Africa. Bisset was a general in the British Army who served the army while in South Africa – while living there, went on many hunting excursions for big game. His adventures were thoroughly described in this memoir including his encounters with lions, witch-doctors, and elephants, as well as numerous military engagements. This 1875 first edition is also inscribed by the author.
