1875 Jules Verne Voyages North Pole Adventure of Capt Hatteras Field of Ice RARE
“Reality provides us with facts so romantic that imagination itself could add nothing to them.”
― Jules Verne
Jules Verne’s adventure novels are some of the most popular and famous works of literature of all time. Known mostly for his works of science fiction, ‘Voyages Extraordinaires’ was Verne’s largest collection of fantasy novels and stories. ‘Adventures of Captain Hatteras’ is a two-part novel, that was included into “The Extraordinary Voyages.” First published in 1864, this book tells the tales of Captain John Hatteras in the North Pole. Many critics speculate that Captain Hatteras is a fictional reworking of the famous explorer John Franklin.
This 1875 printing of ‘A Journey to the North Pole’ is an English translation of ‘Adventures of Captain Hatteras’ and ‘The Field of Ice’. Routledge reissued both titles in 1875 as one work.
This lot features both ‘Field of Ice’ and ‘Journey’ in separate tomes.
