Paul Lacroix was a 19^th-century French author whose books covered a broad set of topics, including some controversial. Lacroix wrote about ballets, costumes, romance, masquerades, heraldry, religion in the military, and the history of prostitution. He also wrote a book, “Sciences and Letters of the Middle Ages,” which covers the studies of alchemy and the occult sciences, as well as an important chapter on heraldry. Engravings depict monsters, bizarre animals, dragons, deformed humans, torture scenes, scalping, maps, flags, and more!
