Guinevere was one of the preeminent characters in Arthurian Legend, alongside figures such as Elaine, Enid, Vivien, Sir Lancelot, Merlin, and King Arthur himself. She most prominently appears in Thomas Malory’s “Death of Arthur” but also appears in Alfred Tennyson’s “Idylls of the King”.

 

This 1868 first American edition of Tennyson’s portrayal of Guinevere was published by George Routledge and includes the highly desirable art of Gustave Dore.
