‘Bentley’s Miscellany’ was a mid-17th-century English magazine created by Richard Bentley, who asked Charles Dickens to be the very first editor. Dickens was only editor for a few short years, but during this time, he published his second novel ‘Oliver Twist’ in the magazine.

 

This 1837 first edition of  Bentley’s magazine features the first four installments of Charles Dickens’ ‘Oliver Twist’. It is illustrated with 16 charming plates, eight of which were by the famous George Cruikshank. In addition to ‘Oliver Twist’, this book features other Dickens works such as ‘The Pantomime of Life’ and ‘Public Life of Mr. Tulrumble’.
