1829 History of France Anquetil Illustrated Portraits MAP Napoleon Louis XVI 15v
In 1805, Louis-Pierre Anquetil wrote a complete history of France. Reports, while the authenticity is in question, say that Napoleon Bonaparte requested this history from Anquetil. Even though Anquetil was not considered a top French historian during his life, his ‘Histoire de France’ was still reprinted in many editions and propelled his fame.
This fine 1829 edition features full-page copper portraits of famous French figures, important and iconic locations such as the Bastille, and a huge folding color map of France!
