George Russell traveled to Sicily with Herr Fromm and a group of Germans and gave a detailed account of his travels in his book ‘A Tour Through Sicily.’ ‘A Tour through Sicily’ includes descriptions of the volcano of Macaluba, Castro Giovanni, the ancient Enna, the lake of Proserpine, the valley of Ispica, and much more.

 

A contemporary reviewer, remarked on Russell’s “very minute and satisfactory descriptions of things which other travelers, have, perhaps, treated too negligently” (Analyses of Seven New Works of Voyages and Travels, 1819).

 

This 1819 edition contains 17 engraved plates many of which are aquatint, folding, or full-page in size.
