‘Arthur of Little Britain’ is a charming, chivalry romance legend from the late 15th-century, noted for its companionship to the famous ‘Morte d’Arthur’ by Malory. Numerous translations of this tale appeared following its popularity including the 1555 Utterson edition. The French version became the basis for many editions including the English edition of John Bourchier, Lord Berners. According to Wagner,

“many of Berners’ translations influenced the work of later Elizabethan writers and chroniclers.”

Most notably, this English edition of ‘Arthur’ is known to have directly influenced Edmund Spencer and his ‘Faerie Queene’.
