Richard Thornhill’s ‘Shooting Directory’ is one of, if not the best early 19th-century shooting and hunting manual. This incredible folio hunting guide is a collection of discussions on hunting dogs, firearms and gunpowder, shooting styles, and of course descriptions of game animals. While hunting books have always been popular amongst sportsmen, this particular book is known to have more draw than most because of its exquisite full-page, color engravings!

This incredibly rare and valuable true first printing includes pages 214-220 which were suppressed from later editions. These pages highly criticized the hunting ability and shooting techniques of King George III. It is certainly because of these claims that, following the publication of this book, Thornhill moved from England to live full-time in Paris.
