1785 History of the American Revolutionary WAR German Sprengel RARE Color MAP
An extremely rare first edition German account of the American Revolutionary War by Matthias Christian Sprengel. His works helped satiate the need of the German people to understand this new nation. Two versions of this book exist with map. The map is based on a reduced version of the famous 1783 Faden map of the United States. While both versions of the book include this famous map, this smaller, rarer edition’s map is colored! It is very rare to find this work complete with map. Because of the desirability of the map itself, it has regularly been extracted from this book for map collectors.
Matthias Christian Sprengel (1746 – 1803) was a German geographer and historian. He was notably the author of works on North American history and the American Revolution.
We find this title (without the map!) selling for over $1000. The map alone is worth our asking price. Just BEAUTIFUL.
