1782 1ed Revolutionary War Letters George Washington Cornwallis Clinton Germain
George Germain was an 18th-century British soldier who is known for his role in the American Revolutionary War. It has long been thought, whether earned or not, that he was responsible for the British defeat in the war. In 1781, confusion arose over orders given to Charles Cornwallis by Henry Clinton which ultimately caused the loss of the Battle of Yorktown. These bits of correspondence, along with many others, were included in this 1782 first French edition book ‘Correspondence of Germain with Generals Clinton and Cornwallis’.
This work includes an impressive, early portrait of General George Washington!
Howes notes that no English edition was published.
