One of la Caille’s greatest scientific accomplishments was his figuring and calculating meridian arcs, specifically the French Meridian Arc. Hungarian astronomer Maximilian Hell published astronomical tables that aided Caille in his research.
The results of his findings, along with those of Hell, were published under the title ‘Tabulae Solares ad Meridianum Parisinum’.
