The ‘Almanach Royal’ was an 18^th-century French periodical originally founded in 1683 by Laurent d’Houry. The work would be regularly published until the early 20^th-century, but its most well-known editions were published in the 18^th-century. D’Houry would discuss royal records, members of the royal family, officers to the royal court, information on monasteries and French abbeys and cathedrals, military personnel, ambassadors, and much more.

 

This particular 1757 issue includes, as might be expected of an almanac, phases of the moon and important calendar inclusions, as well as more political matters including:

• Louis XV’s relationships with European royals
• Revisiting the marine laws established by Louis XIV
• On the royal college in Paris, faculty
• On the royal surgeons and physicians to the king
