Johann Simonis was an 18^th-century German Protestant who was a scholar in oriental and Hebrew studies. He wrote a great number of Hebrew scholarly works; however, his most important was without question his ‘Biblia Hebraica Manualia’. This edition of the Hebrew Bible was prepared by Simonis while he was teaching at Halle. He used E. van der Hooght’s Hebrew text as the basis for his Bible and it contains two appendixes, a Bible dictionary, and an explanation of the Masoretic notes.

 

This 1752 printing was the first edition of Simonis’s Hebrew manual Bible.
