A handwritten, mid-18th-century prayer book written in German, Latin, and French. This journal contains entries for Sabbath observation, intercessions, litanies, and prayers.

 

The House of Lobkowicz is a Czech noble family that dates back to the 14th century and is one of the oldest Bohemian noble families. The first Lobkowiczs were members of the gentry of north-eastern Bohemia in the late 14th century.

 

This handwritten manuscript belonged to Princess Anna Maria Wilhelmina, Countess of Althan who was married to Philip Hyacinth, 4th Prince Lobkowicz. She also mothered Wenzel Ferdinand Lobkowicz, 5th Prince and Ferdinand Lobkowicz, 6th Prince. This same journal was then later gifted to her daughter, Princess Maria Elisabeth Lobowicz, Countess of Ulfeldt. She was married to Count Anton Corfiz Ulfeldt, an Austrian politician and diplomat as well as notably a member of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
