This work is beautifully illustrated with incredible plates by Merian, which the Gentleman’s Magazine refers to as ‘the most remarkable transactions in the world.’ Illustrations include scenes of torture and crucifixion, assassinations, mass book burnings, battle scenes with self-mutilation,
