In 1712, John Baskett began printing the Book of Common Prayer, shortly after the success of the 1710 New Testament. Baskett was the printer to the king during the first half of the 18^th-century. This enormous 1738 edition is quite impressive. Few examples of the Book of Common Prayer are this big, regardless of when it was published – not only for the size but for featuring the entirety of Baskett’s Holy Bible. Thomas Baskett Bibles are considered some of the most desirable 18^th-century Bibles. In fact, the Baskett Bible became the first English Bible to see print in America in 1761.
