“The Sense of an Englishman on the Pretended Coalition of Parties” was an 18^th-century political pamphlet. This short book is a fine example of the political unrest between the Whigs and the Tories of the early 1700s in London and the aftermath of the 1688 Glorious Revolution. The anonymous author of this pamphlet makes strong cases against both parties because of their agenda, even asking the question:

“Which contending Party will soonest throw the other out of play: An Handful of Whigs, who shall have cut themselves off in their Anger from all the Party, and all the Power, which could help and relieve them? Or, a Legion of Tories, standing firm and entire, in one compacted Phalanx?”

 

This book covers the principles of political reforms, the Jacobite risings, Protestant reforms, and attempts and succession and Revolutions.
