A rare Dutch Holy Bible printed in Utrecht. This bible was the Bible of the Dutch Old Catholics. According to Darlow and Moule,

“A new version of Old Catholics, with the approbation of C.J. Barchman Wuytiers, Archbishop of Utrect. The section Gen.- 2 Kings and the New Testament were of A. van der Schuur’s version, the remainng portion of the Old Testament being translated by H. van Rhijn. Edited by W. Kemp.” (D&M)

 

This bible, while it was printed by Dutch Catholics, was forbidden by the Catholic Church, not to be used in Roman Catholicism.

 

Printed in folio and two-column format, this bible includes charming, decorative vignettes.
