1722 Justin Martyr Christian Apology Dialogues Trypho GREEK & Latin HUGE FOLIO
“We used to hate and destroy one another and refused to associate with people of another race or country. Now, because of Christ, we live together with such people and pray for our enemies.”
― Justin Martyr
A rare 1722 edition of the collected works of Saint Justin Martyr, one of the greatest figures of Christian apologetics. A Latin translation of Justin’s works did not appear until 1554, though this edition features both the original Greek and the Latin translation.
Justin’s First Apology is his most well-known work which was written to defend morality of Christian living, and provide philosophical arguments to convince Emperor Antoninus to abandon his persecutions. “Dialogues with Trypho” was a document to show that Christianity is the law by which all men should live and to prove though Scripture, that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah.
