Andre Felibien was a 17^th-century French art historian known for his service under Louis XIV of France. In the 16^th-century artist Giorgio Vasari published ‘Lives of the Excellent Painters’ which greatly influenced Felibien, so much so that Felibien wrote his own version entitled ‘Entretiens’ or ‘Lives and Works of the Most Excellent Painters’. In addition to highlighting the lives of the great art masters, Felibien used this book to give prominence to local French artists.

This 3-volume 1705 edition contains seven distinct parts and features impressive, full-page engravings.
