Bartolomeo della Rocca, most commonly known as Cocles, was a 15^th-century astrologer known for his extensive studies on chiromancy and geomancy. First published in 1504, Cocles’s work ‘Chiromancy and Physiognomy’ was filled with predictions and fortune-telling; unfortunately, he was assassinated by Ermes Bentivoglio, an Italian military leader because Cocles predicted that he would die in battle!

 

This late 17^th-century edition of Cocles’s ‘Chiromancy’ is utterly filled with 158 impressive woodcut illustrations on palmistry and chiromancy, directions on how to read palms, and curious predictions.
