“This is the best of all possible worlds.”

― Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz

Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was a 17th-century German philosopher whose ideas of ‘best of all possible worlds’ was a landmark attempt to solve all of the world’s evils. While he is certainly most remembered for his book ‘Theodicy’, he also published a series of letters responding to Paul Pellisson in which he entitled “The Tolerance of Religions”. Leibniz was highly critical of Pellisson’s “Reflexions sur les differends de la religion” and in this series of essays, Leibniz notes that religious intolerance exists because of a lack of discussions about such controversies. This 1692 first edition of Leibniz views of religious prejudices was published by Anisson in Paris.
