The “Miscellany Poems” of Thomas Heyrick is a rare and rather obscure 17^th-century collection of English poetry. Heyrick was a fisherman and angler and drew inspiration from his time in nature, in fact, much of his poetry is rooted in pastoral scenes and animals. Notable poems included in this 1691 first edition include: ‘On the Crocodile’, ‘The Fisherman and Treasure’, ‘The Mandrake’, and many others. The final poem included in this work is “The Submarine Voyage”, a work in which Heyrick,

“not only praises angling but abuses those who do not angle, in vehement fashion.” (Hayward 134)
