Ignatius of Loyola was a Spanish priest during the 15^th-century, who is remembered for founding the Society of Jesus, or Jesuits. He composed various spiritual exercises, wrote simple meditations and prayers which contributed to the growth of Jesuit doctrine.

 

This curious 17^th-century account of the life of Saint Ignatius, by Ludovicus Augustinus Riesenfelder, was printed in German, published in Prague at the College of Society of Jesu, St. Clement’s Cathedral – a home for Catholic Italians who made their way to the Czech Republic.
