Angeloni, a 17th-century Italian historian, wrote this book from his extensive study of Roman emperors. In the 3th-century, numerous biographies of emperor were written by various authors, which were later collected and called the ‘Historia Augusta’. Angeloni published his edition of ‘Historia Augusta’ which became popular for his inclusion of illustrations of ancient Roman coins.
