Francesco Angeloni’s “L’Historia Augusta” is a history of Rome beginning with the reign of Julius Caesar through Constantine the Great. Angeloni, a 17^th-century Italian historian, wrote this book from his extensive study of Roman emperors. In the 3^th-century, numerous biographies of emperor were written by various authors, which were later collected and called the ‘Historia Augusta’. Angeloni published his edition of ‘Historia Augusta’ which became popular for his inclusion of illustrations of ancient Roman coins.

This 1685 folio edition of Angleoni includes the many fine engravings of coins and is considered a highly valuable piece!
