“The condition of man . . . is a condition of war of everyone against everyone.”

Thomas Hobbes

Thomas Hobbes was perhaps the most notable 17th-century English philosopher who conducted social studies and published historical theories on politics, physics, and law. While works such as ‘Leviathan’ and ‘De Cive’ were his most popular books, works such as ‘De Homine’ and ‘De Corpore’ proved to be highly important.

This book is a collection of three separate works published as one, each of which is a ‘life of the author’ describing the life and work of Hobbes. The first is thought to be by Ralph Bathurst, the second by Richard Blackburne, and the third by Hobbes himself. In addition to the biographical sketches, this book includes poems dedicated to Hobbes by Abraham Cowley, Bathurst, and John Aubrey.
