    • Alexandre Estgnard (1833-1918) was a French politician and author.
      • Magistrate in 1859, Alexandre Estignard was posted to Baume-les-Dames, Lons-le-Saunier, Gray and Vesoul. In 1867, he was advocate general in Besançon, then in 1870 in Limoges. He then went to advise the Besançon Court of Appeal.
      • He was a deputy for Doubs from 1876 to 1878 and sat on the right, supporting the government during the “crisis of May 16”. He was re-elected in 1877, but the election was invalidated, and he lost his seat during the election in 1878.
      • His very lively character earned him numerous enemies and several duels.
      • After leaving political life, he devoted himself to historical and literary work on his property in Vuillafans.
