Cornelius Jansen was an early 17th-century bishop from Flanders known for his involvement in the movement known as Jansenism. Jansen found himself wanting to disrupt the rule of Catholicism and did so violently with his work ‘Mars Gallicus’, a speech in which he attacked the French indifference toward Catholicism outside of France.
